A Note of Thanks from George Martell
Dear Friends,
As some of you will know, my first attempt at solo flight was not an unqualified success. On July 5, a loose shingle carried me off the second floor of my house, where I was painting. I ended up at St. Mike’s trauma unit for a week with 15 bone breaks, but – absurdly lucky – nothing serious except my wrists, which needed surgery and plates. Since then (for six weeks or so) I was at Providence Healthcare for rehab, which, now that I’m home, will continue pretty much full time for the next 3 or 4 months with some odds and ends that will likely take a year or so to finish up.
I want to thank those of you who found a way to get your good wishes through to me. They were much appreciated. I also want to thank those who wondered why their emails weren’t being returned for their patience and good humour. I’m afraid for the next few months I’m not going to be much better on the email/going-to-meeting front. I can’t drive and my typing is almost totally shot. As well, the rehab keeps me pretty much home bound (or as a hospital out patient). I’m not sure why I feel so ridiculously cheerful about all of this. Maybe it’s just the peace and quiet. I do know I will be anxious to see you all once I get a little more mobile.
My very best wishes,
George |
